• ABOUT MY SUPPORT • THE BIRTH DOULA CHESHIRE •
I WANT YOU TO KNOW
I totally get it!
YOU ARE ABOUT TO DO ONE OF THE MOST INTENSE THINGS OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE & YOU'RE FEELING A LITTLE ANXIOUS, IT IS COMPLETELY NATURAL
& YOU ARE NOT ALONE
I've been there, & now support, inform & educate women, couples & families across London & Cheshire in all aspects of Pregnancy & Birth.
Not being able to predict what will happen during your Labour, can make you feel that what happens in Labour & Birth is completely out of your control.
Traumatic Birth stories from well-meaning family & friends can make it seem that giving Birth will be a difficult & fearful experience.
Alongside misinformation, such as vaginal examinations, a stretch & sweep, induction, forceps etc being necessary & inevitable to birth your baby safely, even in a straightforward pregnancy.
You may be finding it difficult to distinguish between necessary medical advice, guidance & recommendations. Or need help to understand the benefits & risks in making certain decisions.
YOU MAY NOT HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE CHANCE TO HAVE A THOROUGH DISCUSSION & ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR MATERNITY CARE
Or been given any information on how to prepare emotionally & physically for birth, however you choose to birth your baby.
Continuity of care throughout from the same Health Professionals may be lacking. You may have unanswered questions, need unbiased information to make a safe & positive Birth plan, or guidance on how best to your communicate your options & choices with Health Professionals.
Your partner may want to be fully involved but is unsure of how best to support you in Pregnancy & Birth in the unfamiliar territory of maternity services.
Not having clear guidance on all these aspects can feel confusing & overwhelming.
MANY EXPECTANT PARENTS GO INTO PREGNANCY UNDER THE MISAPPREHENSION
THAT MATERNITY SERVICES
always provide individualised information, compassionate care & necessary evidence based medical recommendations.
It often comes as a surprise that our over stretched & under funded NHS maternity services with overworked & exhausted staff not only often fall far short of this but Maternity services are set up to be unnecessarily over medicalised & frequently conducive to a positive birth experience.
Women are left feeling unsupported, not listened to, ill informed & cohersed into medically unnecessary procedures & interventions to comply with Hospital Trusts policies.
Sadly between 1 & 3 women in the U.K. experience Birth trauma in some way.
I PROVIDE INFORMED OPTIONS
choices & solutions
IAM HERE FOR YOU CONTINUOUSLY
to listen, provide clear evidence based information, up to date Antenatal Education, Birth Preparation, support you in your choices & give you & your partner emotional, physical & practical support throughout.
We will have thorough discussions on all aspects of your maternity care, help you to create a safe, positive experience that is individual to you & your baby.
I alleviate your fears, answer all your questions, talk you through your options & show you how to navigate the current maternity systems at London, Mid & East Cheshire & Countess of Cheshire Hospital Trusts.
I help you to advocate with Health Professionals, ensuring they become an essential part of your support team.
BIRTH PREPARATION IS KEY TO A POSITIVE
BIRTH EXPERIENCE, HOWEVER
YOUR BABY IS BORN.
Learning about Birth physiology, knowing how to work with your Labour hormones & birth environment, feeling confident & supported in your birth choices with continuity of care from a Doula, is proven to give the best Birth outcomes.
I prepare you for every eventuality & give your partner a clearly defined role, so they feel fully involved & you are both completely in tune, they know what to do, recognise when to do it & how to carry it out.
My Antenatal education will teach you exactly what you need to know, providing you with effective techniques to manage every stage of labour, enlighten & empower you to listen to your labouring body, ensuring you go into Labour feeling fully prepared.
Even if a caesarean is medically necessary for you, all of this still applies. Whether you are birthing your baby in theatre, a consultant-led unit, MLU or at home, with the right preparation you can feel in control of your experience.
You can birth your baby without fear, anxiety & stress, instead feel positive & excited for the moment you meet your baby
